Passion - The first part of my Why
Passion, People, and Planet
Passion. It is something that is core to my being. And I have been called passionate many times by those who deal with me in the working world and my own private world too. It's not something that I necessarily set out to instill in myself, but looking back on my youth my determination to embrace those things that mean something to me must have driven me to unconsciously embrace this concept of Passion.
As my knowledge of how I work in this world grows, I realize how privileged I have been to have such a mindset. Passion is what sustains me when the going gets tough. It is not a fair-weather mindset, its the mindset that keeps me going when I question my path, my decisions, and my direction in anything I do.
Because if you don't have passion for what you do, you don't have the drive, the determination, or the unshakeable belief in yourself when others cannot see what you see.
We live in a world where we are asked what we want to be when we grow up, where our parents smile when we say crazy things like "astronaut". We are told the options and then asked to choose. We label this career guidance.
What happens if we change the question. What happens instead of asking ourselves what we want to be, we ask ourselves what brings us joy. What happens if we become curious as to what really makes us tick and separate ourselves from the system of what is and rather align with the possibilities of what could be.
Passion is a wonderful thing. It gets me out of bed in the morning. It sets my dreams on fire and it gives me the confidence to dream of things that I have not yet seen. Find your passion, be curious about yourself, and give yourself permission to go on that journey. You wont regret it.
